33,990 miles!

When I brought my travel agent a credit-card that actually works he told me that there were problems with my routing. Not good.

You see, I had planned to fly Munich -> Bangkok (stay for three days) -> Yangoon (stay for 28 days) -> Bangkok (only transfer to) -> Luang Prapang and then fly from BKK to Perth a few months later. What he hadn't thought about was that I was only allowed one stop in BKK. So he suggested that I should fly to Perth from Phnom Penh. I wasn't to happy with that, but o.k. - what was I supposed to do? But when he entered this, he found out that Phnom Penh -> Perth is further then BKK -> Perth. And not only that, it scratched the maximum number of miles I'm allowed on my ticket. I'm only allowed 34,000 miles and from Phnom Penh it would have been 34,010 miles! Can you imagine? Ten fucking miles? In the end he found a way that's actually much better then the original plan. I now fly from BKK to Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand, so I get to see a bit more of Thailand as well.

From there I can either fly to Luang Prapang or take a boat. And then I can fly out of BKK. And that makes 33,990 miles! Eat this Lufthansa! And the best thing is: While I would have had to pay for the flight BKK -> Luang Prapang I can fly Yangoon -> Chiang Mai for fee since it's with Thai Air. And Thai Air is part of the Star Alliance and thus included in my RTW. So I even saved 150 Euros! Btw: In case you are looking at your worldmap and try to figure out why the distance between Phnom Penh and BKK is only supposed to be 20 miles - it's not. But it's 20 air-miles. Apparently that has something to do with airways and flight-corridors and god knows what. Anyhow I'm happy! And I'll be able to pick my ticket up at the end of the week.
