A monk on the way to Paya
Spent a night in Paya (pronounced: Pee). Nothing much to say. Nice pagoda, great scenery slightly yucky guesthouse. Not much more to say. I'll upload some pics of the Pagoda when and the view when I get around to it. There was one remarkable thing though: A young monk I met in Yangon. This guy was extraordinarily friendly, helpful and obviously very happy to practice his English.
He did not only help me find the bus that goes from the center of Yangon to the highway bus station (which is about 45 minutes away from the center of Yangon) but even accompanied me the whole way to make sure I got there o.k.. And then he even negotiated the ticket for me. So I only paid 1.500 kyat for the trip, which is almost the local price (1.250 kyat). I should try to stick to monks more often! On the highway bus station he told me something else that was rather interesting. He urged me not to take any of the small busses since they'd be too dangerous. In return for all his help I promised to visit his english class when I get back to Yangon. And of course I intend to go there. After class he said that he'd show me some monasteries and other things in Yangon. I'm really looking forward to this.
