355 Days :: As Seen By Me :: Cambodia :: Artificial Lake in Anlong Veng

One of Pol Pots top guys had an artifical lake built in Anlong Veng, one of the last Khmer Rouge strongholds to fall. Today the lake is beautiful and slightly creepy at the same time. It's beautiful since almost all form of clear water in Cambodia is beautiful. But the hundreds of dead trees that are standing in the middle of the lake give it a slightly spooky appeal. In the morning, or when the smoke from the fires is particularly thick, you wouldn't be surprised to see the dead rise from these waters.
