Being near a marked minefield is probably one of the most secure places on earth. You just have to remember that you never step over the red line. What you see here is how a team of deminers is gradually moving the red line forward - 50 centimeters at a time. The next teams are 20 meters to their left and right. The little square in the foreground contains a small testpiece of metal. The deminer with the metal detector uses this to make sure that his equipment is working properly every tinme before he walks into the field.
