First night in OZ

O.k. - so I overspent my daily budget on my first night in OZ. But so what? You can't come to a new country - or a new continent for that matter - and not celebrate that fact!

Besides, it was a good way to "bond" with the othe people who are staying at the hostel as well. The nightclub was pretty decent (pool tables, meshed wire, pretty girls and a band playing Australian college/surfer-punk-rock) and considering everything it wasn't even that expensive. We paid 30 AUD at the hostel for the covercharge plus all the beer and champagne we could drink. Unfortuantely I wasn't really up to partying hard that night but I still think I got my money's worth - at least my faint hangover indicates that I did.

The only unpleasant surprise was this morning when I found out that they only serve breakfast until 9.30 am. On a Sunday! When you have been out with the people from the guesthouse until 04.00 am. That's crazy. Well, just had to bite the bullet and pay another 12.50 AUD for bacon, eggs and tea - this is more expensive than Asia LOL. The guesthouse itself (Underground Backpackers, 22 AUD for a six-bed dorm) is quite good. I mean, they even have a pool I suppose just have to get used of this hostel-smell of dirty laundry and sweat. Somehow this stale locker-room smell immediatedly made me feel ten years younger - lol. I just wish one could open the fucking windows. Nah, seriously: I'm alright, I just need to readjust.

The hunt for a car seems promising: There are dozens of people here who are trying to sell their cars and some of the offers look pretty good. I just have to figure out what's up with this stuff regarding license-plates. Apparently you have to be careful which states license-plate the car you are buying has. Well, I'll join the autoclub tomorrow and then ask them about everything.

Time to do some shopping - after all I have to cook for myself again now.
