Ko Pha Ngan - gearing up to party

Arrived on Ko Pha Ngan yesterday, two days before the (in)famous full moon party. The island really is astounishingly beautiful - a picture-postcard tropical island paradise. But the full moon party is already casting it's shadow and lack of accomodation is the least of the problems!

Nanna and Naja tried tried to reserve a bungalow for me at the place where they are staying somehow that didn't work out so when I arrived I had a bit of a problem. I also had two gorgeous Norwegian girls with me whom I had graciously offered that they could share my bungalow if they wanted. Cause it really is impossible to get a place to stay on the island right now.

We were lucky though since the guys from the ressort next door made some room for us where normally the employees sleep and today I did get to move into "Hut Sun" , i.e. the ressort Nana and Naja are staying at. So I have my own Bungalow now (350 Baht) and the Norwegians are close by :-).

Unfortunately it seems like a lot of crazy shit is happening close to the full moon party and on the evening itself. For example, a lot of bungalows are getting broken into, which is not so surprising considering that the burglars know that everyone is gonna be at the party. And Nana and Naja got their daypacks stolen when they were at the beach yesterday. Fortuantely there was not much in it, but it just shows that you do have your share of undesireable characters on the island.

One of those apparently found it quite o.k. to give an english guy who was waiting for a taxi a Muay Thai-elbow punch last night. The English collapsed on the ground and had a nasty concussion on his head with blood flowing everywhere etc.. And apparently it happens quite often that people start fighting with bottles on the full moon party. Remind me: Why did I go here? Ah, yes, girls! Actually there is a lot of them. And a lot of them are very cute. So from that perspective (and is there any other that woul be important?) I've definitely made the right decision.

Seeing Nana, Naja and their Swedish friends again (I think there are more Scandinavians on the island then any other nationality) is great fun as well. Though I think that at least Nana and Naja are still drunk from last night. I mean, at what amount of alcohol in your bloodstream do you loose memory? I think between 2.5 and 3.0. In that case they are still drunk! And of course they vowed never to drink again - at least not before tomorrow.

So long - I have to get back into the water!
