Timo Lüge - Muay Thai Fighter!

Ah, well, maybe that is a bit exagerrated. A tiny, tiny bit maybe. But I actually did take lessons. I mean a lesson. O.k. one hour. Buy I did give it a try. And it really was a lot of fun.

I mainly went to the Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) beginners class cause I felt - and rightfully so - that I simpoly had to do something. After all lying on the beach - or in the hammock - all day, devouring one book after the other does get a bit tiresome after some time. So some excercise felt exactly right. And excercise it was! After the warm up I felt like I wouldn't last to the end of the session. But amazingly enough I did. Of course part of this might have been due to the fact that the only other guy who showed up for the class was an english fellow who's in just as miserable a shape as I am.

But it really was fun! I mean - great fun. It's not like we actually hit each other or anything (after all that might actually hurt) but we were shown the various moves and punches and could try them out. And to quote a guy rom Northern Ireland who's a professional Thai boxer: "Muay Thai might not be a very refined but it's fooking efficient!" And right he was. These elbow-punches and knee-kicks would hurt! Well, I had a great time :-).
