The dude, who selleth you booze at 2am shall be blessed...

Erm, I'm still in Margaret. I had meant to leave first thing in the morning but then I decided to go out drinking with three Irish girls and bloke from England. And of course you should never go on the piss with the Irish...

Well, never might be a bit harsh. Maybe I should say you should never go on the piss with the Irish, if you want to do anything productive the day after. And especially not if you intend to drive 500 km first thing in the morning. In other words: I got hammered. We started quite nicely with a bottle of red (Shiraz Cabarnet) for dinner, and then hit the beers in the bar. We were buying rounds so I have no real idea how much we drank, just that there always seemed to be a new beer when my old one was still half full. And I remember that we had just gotten a new beer when the place closed at 1 am. Well, we could hardly let that go to waste, could we?

Anyhow: We then returned the the hostel where we liberated (the guy whose beers they were had said earlier that we could help ourselves) another six pack of "Carltons Cold" (beautiful beer, that) and then bought another bottle of white from Dough, the dude who was working last nights (hell - all nights and the days to.)

I think we ended up going to bed around four in the morning, so there was no way that I was gonna get up early. The going to bed thing was a bit messy, since I had gotten a bit friendly with one of the Irish who then suddenly felt all guilty about it - which book was that I had read recently where the author goes on and on about his catholic upbringing making him a ral pro at feeling guilty about anything and everything? Ah, yes, Espedair Street by Ian Banks. Good book. Whatever, it turns out that of all the travelling girls I picked one who actually has a conscience! And I always thought those were to be handed in a customs when you enter Australia, together with all sorts of fruits and other perishable stuff. Anyhow, her feeling guilty about her boyfriends wouldn't have been so bad if she hadn't started feeling guilty about me as well. Argh! Women! So I had to assure her that she was not a bad person and that everything was alright etc. I mean, she's a great lass. And to be honest I do appreciate girls with a conscience - just not last night and not at that point into the night! Anyhow - eventually we got all that sorted out, fell down the hallway and went to sleep in separate beds. So, you see, there was absolutely no way I could have left Margaret today. Besides, Mags and Grainne (pronounced "Leslie") said that they'd like to share the car with me for a few days. Now - that will be interesting!
