The girls are gone :-(
Rowan, Rossi and Joni left me! They went to Sydney last night. What a shame, what a shame! I had a really good time with the three of them - and that's not only because they are just gorgeous. Though admittedlyI got a lot of joy out of simply looking at them.
I mean, they are all very good looking. But Joni is just a stunner! Unfortuantely she is not very photogenic (god know's why) but believe me, she is beautiful! God, I loved going down the street surrounded by these three girls :-D. But I think they enjoyed their time with me, too. They even bought me a little farewell-card - isn't that sweet? Well, it's not a good bye for good since I'll see Rossi and Joni again when I get down to Sydney. Rowan will unfortunately be gone by the time I get down there.
Sleepswimming crocs
So, what did we do on our last day together? Not much in the morning - the girls were sunbathing I was doing some other non-interesting stuff - but in the afternoon we went on the Adelaide River for one of the "Jumping Crocs" tours. (Note: The tour we went on is the first one you can go to when you get close to the river). And while it definitely was a different experience to see crocs in the wild as opposed to in a farm, I didn't find the tour that great. For one thing I found that the guide was a bit full of shit and trying to make the crocs sound more dangerous than they really are. I think that if you run a tour like this you should also try to educate the people about crocs and not reinforce the "viscious monster"-stereotype. And we only saw three crocs on the tour (two males one female), the biggest being just over three meters long. And these were so docile since they had already been fed three times that day, that he almost had to shove the food down their throats. I gotta say: the crocs in the crocodile farm in Wyndham were far more impressive and more alert than the ones in the river. Oh, and btw: That the crocs are jumping is not some circus-trick as I had thought when I had first heard about it. It's part of their natural hunting behaviour. They'd for example jump out of the water to catch a bird that's sitting on a low branch or a dog that's playing on a boat.
Mindil Beach Night Market
After having seen the crocs fed, we were getting quite hungry, too. So we went to Darwins Night market on Mindil Beach (Sun and Thu, 4pm - 10 pm). And it was really great! It's a very beautiful night market with some jewellery, t-shirts, aboriginal are and the usual stuff, but more than anything else it's a food-market. And since Darwin is so close to Asia and Indonesia (it's closer to Jakarta than to Australias capital Canberra), you find all sorts of European and Asian and Indonesian food there. And it's all quite cheap, too. All in all I'd actually say that so far Darwin is the best city in Australia for food. There are load of little and big restaurants here and they are quite a bit cheaper than Perth, for example. The other cool thing about the night market was, how popular it is. I mean, it's twice a week and still it's packed with people. The locals go their with their little camping-chairs, sit down, buy food and are having a picknick with friend and strangers. It's really a very nice atmosphere.
Harry Potter
After we had left the market we still had some hours to kill. The girls flight left at 01.50am. So we went to see "Harry Potter 3" and I must say I really enjoyed it. Beautiful set, nice plot and simply well done. A really enjoyable movie.
A male stripper? A male stripper!
Finally we decided to go for one last beer before the girls had to get a taxi. So we went to our usual bar, where to of the girls from the hostel work. And imagine: they had a male stripper that night! I found this quite interesting and really, really funny. I mean, back home, they would make that a "Ladies Only" night, here there were about 30 % guys at the place - and most of them weren't gay I'd say. And yeah, it was really funny. Personally I think the best thing was the girl that he had grapped from the audience to sit on a chair, take his clothes and oil him. She seemed more frightened and confused than anything. Funny.
Then it was unfortunately time to say good bye and the girls were gone. It's really too bad. I had a good time with them.
