To weed or not to weed?

Ok, I managed to find out a bit more about the weeding that I could do for a week in Mary National Park. And fortunately it does not involve crawling through the rainforest with a nailclipper.

Apparently what you get is something like a small 4x4 buggy, a tank with chemicals and a spraygun and then you are off through the bush, spraying these weeds down. And then they'll die. So no bending over to rip roots out of the ground at 34 Celsius or anything like that. On top of that we'd be building traps "to catch any foreigners" (gulp) as Dawn, the project manager, explained to me. Fortunately she only wants to catch foreign animals, though.

I also asked her about the mozzies and unfortunately they seem to be quite bad up there at the moment. But I suppose if I but myself a dose of Permethrin and soak my cloathes in it before going out I'll be fine. I gotta say I'm quite tempted, I just gotta see how this effects my plans for the eastcoast. After all it will probably take me another two or three days to find people to share the car with when I'm back in Darwin and then another three or four days to get to the coast.
