Birthday in Brisbane

Thanks to all of you who have remembered my birthday and called, emailed or otherwise wished me all the best! Being far, far away it was just great to be remembered! And it made me very, very happy. I'll write all of you individually - later.

The rest of the day wasn't exactly bad either :-). As you might have read in the comments, the Japanese girl, Asuza, whom I had met in Airlie Bech was in Brisbane on my birthday and we managed to meet up after my English course. We had planned to go to the Valley Fiesta, Brisbane's largest music festival, but when we got there at 11ish, the last free open air concert was just over. That was a bit of a shame, but we comforted ourselves - and each other - by going to some of the bars in Fortitude Valley, the area my hostel is in. All in all I got less than 90 minutes of sleep that night which I think says a lot about me having a really good time! But you can imagine the state I was in the next morning when I had to be back for my English course. Well, I managed to stay awake. And I was very greatful that "Activities in the classroom" (i.e. games) took up most of the day.

The sweetest cake ever!

Speaking of the course: One of my fellow students, Heidi, was just the sweetest person ever. She had heard me mention a few days earlier that it ws my birthday on friday and brought me a small cake and cream! She had even heated it up. Now, isn't that the sweetest thing ever!? I just loved her for that! And then some of them sang "Happy Birthday" for me and I just felt very much loved :-).
