355 Days :: As Seen By Me :: New Zealand :: Mount Eden in Auckland

This is mount Eden, or rather the carter of mount Eden, one of many inactive vulcanoes in and around Auckland and the place where the best practical joke I ever heard about took place: a few years ago some jokester dumped a lot of tires into the crater at night, put petrol over them and lit them. And then he called a radio station and said "Look! Mt. Eden is erupting!" 5.000 people were evacuated. I'm sure not all of them thought it was very funny at 3 am in the morning. But you just gotta admit: It's a hell of a practical joke!
