Let's ride the Luge!
Queenstown has an attraction that is a source of infinite joy and immature jokes for me: The Luge. So what's so funny? Well, "Luge" is how most English spell my name "Lüge" since the English alphabet doesn't have umlauts. So of course I had to walk up the mountain and find out what sort of little ride I am.
And what did I find? Sodom and Gomorrha! Apparently hundreds of people ride the Luge everyday, squealing full of joy! And they are doing it again and again, for just six dollars! If that's not a cheap little ride then I don't know what is. I've even seen whole familys ride the Luge, men, women and even children! But at least noone small than 1.10 meters is allowed to ride the Luge - I mean, there are limits even to my conscience. I was also happy to find out that expectant mothers aren't allowed to ride the Luge - after all, that is something that I think would have gone a bit too far.
On the other hand, I do agree that noone who has a weak heart or back problems should ride on the Luge - after all, a ride on the Luge can be quite physically taxing :-). On the other hand, having to wear a helmet during the ride does imho kills the magic of the moment a bit. But of course the most important thing is, and I'm glad that the rules of conduct make this clear, that a ride on the Luge is enjoyable for everyone.
Btw: I did get a free ride when I showed them my ID :-).
