Yosemite

I just arrived in the Yosemite National Park - after having made a few, ehem, detours on the way. What little I have seen so far is absolutely awesome and I'm already considering to change my plans to stay here for a few days longer. My rental car is really, nice, btw. I've never had a rental car before! In a few hours I'll probably drive to Glacier Point to see the full moon shine over Yosemite Valley. Supposedly it's awesome!

Dammit - I had all but forgotten about IW! And considering that since last month you can once again buy assault rifles in the US (thanks, George) I really shopuld have taken advantage of being so close to them!

Here is an interesting fact: when assault rifles were "banned" in the U.S., their possession and usage, especially among criminal elements, actually went UP! And since Pres. Bush has lifted the moratorium on certain weapons (we are not talking Terminator-style types; you watch too much t.v.), there has been no increase in assault weapon related crime...

Don't let your political bias blind raw facts. It would be akin to a certain group of individuals who kept telling everyone that "everyone hated" Pres. Bush. Well, when the dust settled, Pres. Bush was re-elected with over 10 million votes more than his challenger, the "popular guy." ;)

Thank you for your comment, "Friend". I found the statisctis you quoted very interesting Unfortuantely though I couldn't find them anywhere online. Do you have a link you could supply? I'm also be curious whether the total number of injuries through fire arms and/or assault weapons increased or decreased during the moratorium. I mean, after all, afaik most people don't get killed by a gangster in a firefight. But from what I know in most cases these are domestic accidents. So for me, the important number woulb whether the overall number of deaths/injuries increased or decreased during that time. Unfortuantely I couldn't find information about this online. Do you maybe have some?
