The Bug's Back

Ooooooh - that was a nasty surprise. After having been violently sick on Sunday I felt really good on Monday and was really up to 100 % again on Tuesday. And that's when it hit mit again.

I had just been down to the market with Manolo and Guido to buy some fireworks when all of a sudden I felt dizzy nauseous and not good at all. In case you are wonering why we were buying fireworks, there is probably a thing or two I should explain.

Crash, Boom, Bang

The people in Antigua, and especially the kids, simply love. You can hear them explode every day at almsot every hour. And they are big ones, too. Manolo told us that the government outlawed a certain class of fireworks just recently cause they could be used to blow up a car. Let's just say that after five weeks in Antigua I feel like I could easily and soundly sleep in any combat-zone. Especially since the kids currently seem to favour a combination of wheezing tracers and big bomb-like devices. So it's "Weeeeeeeiiiiiiiyyyyy - BOOOM, Weeeeeeeiiiiiiiyyyyy - BOOOM, Weeeeeeeiiiiiiiyyyyy - BOOOM" for large parts of the day and night. And to us is just felt like setting off fireworks is something we'd have to do before leaving Antigua.

14 hours of sleep

Alas, it was not to be. I went home and slept for 14 hours, that wre only interrupted by frequent trips to the the toilet. How did that happen? I had always assumed that with stomach-problems, once you got it out of your system it's gone. Obviously I've been wrong as other people I met reported the same problem in the past.

Thanksgiving and going up Acatenango

Which of course leaves me with two very difficult problems ahead: Will I be able to enjoy the thanksgiving dinner on thursday at Cafe No Se (I've never had an American thanksgiving before, so I'm all excited) and should I really try to climb Acatenango this weekend? Considering that I intend to leave Antigua on monday this would be the last chance for me and it looks like the weather is gonna be decent.
