Eleven days ago, the day after I had returned from Tikal, my server had a hard disk crash. The site was down, everything seemed to be gone. And guess, who hadn't made a backup...

Fortunately my provider did have one and managed to restore both the files and the SQL-database (which is where all the entries are stored). Afterwards it took me one more day to reconfigure my blog - but now it's all good. Well, almost everything is. I still cannot get the categories displayed in the photo-section of the blog and I cannot upload any new photoes, but compared to what could have happend that's not too bad.

My best x-mas present

For a few days it looked like I might have lost everything I had written here! That would have been a nightmare. I don't know what I would have done. Got very, very drunk? Certainly? Tried to salvaga as much as possible from the Google-Cache? Probably. Alas, it's all there and that is by far the best x-mas present I could have asked for!

While the site was down I wrote my blog-entries in the form of emails to myself. I will copy these to the site within the next couple of days.
